To continue our fundraising support for the Curtis Palmer Program, we will be donating 50p from every Gold Standard Nutrition meal sold in April across our Police Base / Station Tuck Shops
The following message is from Inspector Damien Ruben Isherwood. JOU Dog Inspector and National Police Lead for the Curtis Palmer Program.
“I wanted to thank all at the Aylesbury and Chiltern Sports and Social Club for your previous donation of £1320.60 and your continued support for the Curtis Palmer Program. Your money allows us to help our Police Family because the Curtis Palmer Program was set up by Police Officers and Police Staff for Police Officers and Police Staff. You may have seen on our Curtis Palmer Program Facebook page we help the physically ill/injured and those struggling with anxiety, stress, depression and their mental health wellbeing. We are here to help you all, yes we help those with cancer, MND and amputations and those with PTSD but we are also firm believers that prevention is better than cure so if you feel you are getting near the mental health breaking point do reach out to us, we never say no to helping service users in some way.
This year we have already
· Run our 13th online breathing and cold water immersion course that has so far helped over 300 service users from 18 Police Forces. The 14th course starts in May.
· Signposted over 80 service users to free OU Courses to help with anxiety and stress in the workplace.
· Paid for 2 Surfing weekend breaks for 9 service users in Devon with Op Poseidon .
· Paid for service users to attend a 6 day wellbeing break in Cornwall.
· Taken a team to race in the Commando Speed March in Spean Bridge.
· Started training with a team of 10 for the National 3 Peaks Challenge.
· Sponsored 6 places on Woodland Wellbeing Breaks with Hidden Valley Bushcraft.
· Sent 2 officers on a diving trip to Egypt with the Charity Deptherapy.
· Taken 4 officers on the 2 day NNAS Award Bronze Award to map reading in Brecon.
· Climbed Snowdon on World Cancer Day with Sgt Loz East (Who has stage 4 cancer) and his friends and family.
· Run wellbeing days for departments, bringing external speakers.
· Paid for 18 service users to attend an outward bounds weekend at Skern Lodge in which they will be taught to canoe, climb and undertake confidence building exercises.
· Started training the 15 service users we are taking to Norway.
All of this would not have been possible without your help/generosity. During this cost of living crisis we don’t believe money should be a blocker to help so with your help we can fund activities so they are free to the service user. The Police Family looking after the Police Family.” Regards Ish.
