Dear All,
Apologies for the delay in updating you on the decision that as a Club we will not be restocking the Tuck Shop provisions. The decision from the force is that the preference is to have one turn-key solution provided by an external provider. That way, all officers and staff across all LCU’s will receive the benefits from the facilities that will be provided. The forces decision was that in the future sports and social clubs should not be involved in the running of these provisions. We recognise that across other LPA’s some of our peer clubs continue to run Tuck Shops, but this will be a temporary measure. It may seem at odds with this that we have decided to stop, but this was unavoidable from our perspective.
We appreciate that there has been a request from Wellbeing for the provisions to continue until a replacement is in place. There was additional guidance that as a club we should not exceed the VAT threshold and we should take mitigating action to avoid this occurring. It is in relation to the latter that we have had to take the decision to stop. We were unable to gain support from the organisation to put in place a control measure that would have allowed us to continue to trade. If we continued to trade we would have exceeded the VAT threshold within months and this would have been unacceptable.
The Force Wellbeing Team are in the process of negotiating with an external provider to secure a replacement service, which should be potentially implemented in the coming months. An update on the progress of the replacement roll out will hopefully come out soon from the Wellbeing Group who are taking the lead in coordinating this on behalf of the force.
We appreciate the support we receive from you and how we have been able to support the welfare of the Stations and Bases we serve. We have just dispatched over 250 Xmas Gift boxes to members and over 200 members of the Club and guest will join us for the Xmas panto at the Waterside theatre in Aylesbury. We are in the final stages of planning a Rugby / Social Event planned for March 24 and planning further events into 2024, so please continue to trust that we will continue to work to develop what we can offer to you.
If you feel your membership would be better served aligned to another area club, please drop me an email and I will arrange to have your membership transferred to the alternative club of your choice.
If you wish to cancel your overall membership of sports and social, please click here and follow the steps
Please note, if you intend to remain a member of a sporting section or continue your subscription to the force lottery, you will need to remain a member of a Club. Whatever provision you are a part of, I would recommend that you receive value for your subscription and this is best achieved by engaging with your local social club committee.
Regards
Paul Devlin – Chair
